Chinese Mahayana uses this day to commemorate Buddha’s commitment to the pursuit of enlightement and liberation.
5 Apr (Sun) 二月十八 Qing Ming Festival 清明節
The day that Chinese diaspora used to pay respect to their departed loved ones and ancestors. In Singapore and Malaysia context, the prayers can commence from 10 days before Qing Ming Festival to 10 days after, hence – 26 Mar to 15 Apr.
6 Apr (Mon) 二月十九 Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Commemoration Day 觀音菩薩誕
An important Mahayana Bodhisattva that was absorbed in Chinese folklore known as Guanyin and made wide and deep influence.
8 Apr (Wed) 二月廿一 Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Commemoration Day 普賢菩薩誕
A very well-known Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism and represents Virtuous Acts.
19 Apr (Sun) 三月初三 Xuan Tian Shang Di Commemoration Day 玄天上帝誕
A very well-known Taoist deity known for banishing evil and overcoming calamities.
1 May (Fri) 三月十五 Xuan Tan Yuan Shuai Commemoration Day 玄壇元帥誕
A very well-known Taoist deity known for bestowing wealth and overcoming plagues and illnesses.
2 May (Sat) 三月十六 Cundi Bodhisattva Commemoration Day 準提菩薩誕
A very well-known Buddhist bodhisattva often mistaken as the Thousand-Armed Guanyin known for protection and wish-fulfillment.
