Curator’s Journey

Ser Ming is primarily transparent with his background yet he was ever misunderstood as too self-style and neither having lineage nor received proper training. So penning the Ser Ming’s journey down can be useful for clients or friends who are curious about it.

Many practitioners market or brand themselves as one of or a mixture of the following:

  1. There are practitioners that cannot highlight enough that they are self-taught to tell you how brilliant they are .
  2. While some practitioners like to market themselves to have initiated into lineages belonging to famous masters as if it will be their masters providing the services instead of themselves.
  3. There will also be other practitioners claim that one or some God(s) / Buddha(s) / Deity(ies) / Angel(s) / <whatever> communicates and teach(es) them the skills they are providing.

Ser Ming belongs to neither of the above other than his initial journey on Tarot and Auspicious Name Selection that he started a few years ago, which were both self-taught. There is a need to qualify what does it mean by ‘self-taught’. It means Ser Ming would have read books about them and make sense what are the consistent principles throughout. There are people whom ‘self-taught’ means come up with their own thing.

The following are the trainings that Ser Ming have received and exposed to. They can be structured courses, hands-on workshops, informal trainings from other experienced practitioners or self-taught. Not all trainers provide certifications upon completion. They are listed in their respective disciplines and in chronology order within. It makes more sense that way for relevancy.

These trainings were primarily taught in English language except for techniques that have Chinese names included.

Religious / Spiritual Upbringing that influence Ritual

  1. 過法堂於慈教黃老仙師門下 Initiated under Huang Lao Xian Shi sect in 1994 and was active in the practice till 1996.
  2. Interested with the difference in religions and started to exploring religions due to a Civics & Moral Education textbook in 1996.
  3. Explore religions in the good-old mIRC chatrooms and sgForums and active between 1998 to early 2000s.
  4. Exposed with Buddhism Ceremonial Ritual and active in participating in early 2000s.
  5. Getting to know the Lotus Sutra in 2000 and it becomes my cornerstone much later.
  6. Attended English Dharma Class Beginner Course by Venerable Dr. Changqing in 2000 and 2001.
  7. Completed 初級佛學課程 Basic Buddhism Course with Venerable Guohui in 2001.
  8. Received the Mahayana Buddhist Triplegem Refuge in Jan 2005.
  9. Received the Mahayana Buddhist Laymen Precepts in 2006 (if I recall correctly).
  10. Attended All About Buddhism Course by Venerable S. Dhammika in 2006.
  11. Attended 中級佛學課程 Intermediate Buddhism Course with Venerable Guohui in 2007.
  12. Explore and started mantra practice of Cundi Bodhisattva due to a recommendation by a veteran in 2008.
  13. Received the Nyingmapa Buddhist Triplegem Refuge and oral transmissions of some mantra from Khenpo Kacheh in 2015 0r 2016.
  14. Receiving informal training about disaster alleviating related Buddhist rituals from a renowned ritual conductor in 2016.
  15. Self Aspired to uphold the living principles of a Dharma Teacher as laid out in the Lotus Sutra in May 2017.
  16. Received very very informal guidance by an experienced Taoist priest in operating and activating talisman since 2021.
